"BOWL OF LIGHT" - Lhasa. Huge vats of yak butter burn as the eternal light in the prayer hall of Drepung Monastery.

"BUTTER LAMPS" - Lhasa. Individual butter lamps are offered and lit.

"EVEREST PRAYER FLAGS" - Everest Base Camp. Mountains are considered goddessesin the Himalayas. Prayer flags are offered to the goddess Chomolangma meaning "Goddess Mother of the Universe" in Tibetan.

"NORBULINKA DOORWAY" - Lhasa. Bronze figures guard the doorway to Norbulinka Palace, the winter residence of the 14th Dalai Lhama.

"PEACEFUL MONK" - Lhasa. A monk guards the 14th Dalai Lhama's bedroom in the Potala Palace.

"TIBETAN BOOTS" - Lhasa. Handmade Tibetan boots hang in a merchant's stall in the ancient Bhakhor marketplace which surrounds the most sacred Jokhang Temple.

"PRAYER WHEELS" - Lhasa. Prayer wheels line perimeter of the Jokhang Temple in the ancient Bakhor in Lhasa.

"NORBULINKA" - Lhasa. Norbuinka - the winter home of the exiled 14th Dalai Llama.

"WARM HANDS" - Lhasa. Multi-colored layers of clothing to keep warm at the 12,000 foot Himalayan capitol of Lhasa.

"MONK AND PRAYER WHEEL" - Lhasa. Drepung Monastery. Turning prayer wheels releases the good wishes written inside the prayer wheel to the heavens.
